Harkin Steak Fry Goes World-Wide on the Web:
Iowa Democrats Launch Live-Event Web Stream

DES MOINES, IA – Iowa Democratic Party Chairman Michael Kiernan said Thursday the party will offer a live internet video stream of Sen. Tom Harkin’s annual Steak Fry, Sunday in Indianola. The event’s featured speaker is Sen. Al Franken, D-MN.

“We’re excited to launch a new way of including our supporters who can’t be a part of an important event like the Harkin Steak Fry,” Kiernan said. “There is a lot of interest in Sen. Franken, and I think Iowa Democrats are looking forward to a chance to get to know this new neighbor-state Senator better.”

The 32nd annual Harkin Steak Fry will draw Iowa Democrats and statewide media to the Warren County fairgrounds. “This year’s event has an added sense of celebration because of Sen. Harkin’s appointment to be Chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee this week.”

The steak fry is Harkin’s signature annual grassroots event and an important tradition for Iowa Democrats. This will be Sen. Franken’s first appearance in Iowa since being elected to the Senate.

Portions of the event, including the speech by Franken, will be broadcast over the internet via the Iowa Democratic Party website. Directions for accessing the streamed portion of the Harkin Steak Fry are as follows:
